Dies after Thyroid Surgery, Naples Prosecutor's Office Investigates
The State Police and the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office are investigating to clarify the causes of death of a 40-year-old woman, Consiglia Benducci, from Torre del Greco, who died last May 19 in'Hospital of the Sea' from the Ponticelli district of Naples, where she had arrived the day before, in critical condition, suffering from a serious respiratory crisis, aboard an ambulance.

According to the lawyer, Marialaura Masi, the State Police immediately acquired the medical records, which were reviewed by Naples Deputy Prosecutor Stella Castaldo. The magistrate has opened a case against unknown persons. The victim's family and the lawyer, according to reports, are now awaiting the assignment for the autopsy, which will be performed at the Second Polyclinic of Naples.
"Covid was suspected, but the tests came back negative," attorney Masi said. "Consiglia underwent thyroid surgery on April 29th at a nursing home in the Vesuvius area. From that moment, according to family members, her health gradually deteriorated, until her death last Wednesday."
