“The categorical imperative is to speed up: my goal is to exceed 500 thousand administrations per day”. He says this in an interview with The print, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.

“It will be necessary to involve general practitioners and pharmacies more,” he underlines. “Currently, the involvement of private doctors is not homogeneous in the various Regions, but uniform and widespread participation and an appropriate quota of doses dedicated to them are essential.”

"In Italy there are about 43.000 family doctors and 20 pharmacies. If each doctor administered ten vaccines a day, we would get 430 more doses, to which another 100.000 could be added for the role of pharmacies," he added. "The forecasts are approximate, but if we add to these projections what we already do, we can do it."

"General practitioners are able to administer 8-11 million flu vaccines every year in a few months. Patients trust them, they turn to them with greater willingness than to an anonymous yet efficient vaccination hub - concludes Figliuolo -. For this reason I hope for a sort of virtuous emulation so that the patients themselves solicit their doctor based on what other colleagues of his do".
