A traumatized person can somatize a lot.

“Psychocorporeal dissociation is one of the most widespread, but there is not just one type of dissociation. Many studies on Covid, and also several previous studies on other traumatic dimensions, reveal that after the traumatic experience different disorders can be activated, but it all depends on which parts of the personality the trauma dissociates. Which complexes are somehow, temporarily or chronically, isolated from the rest of the personality and forced to work in a psychic dimension separated from consciousness, from awareness”.

This is what Carlo Melodia, psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and president of the Association of Jungian Analytical Journeys (Vja) of Padua, says, thus justifying the start of the second year of the two-year course dedicated to the recognition and treatment of dissociative states on an early traumatic basis, promoted together with theInstitute of Orthophonology (IdO) of Rome.
The first year, aimed at all health workers, closes while the second will open, addressed only to psychotherapists. Both courses will share, in fact, two Ecm accredited initiatives on the occasion of two intensive weekends on imaginative techniques in July and September.

The need for people's help and, therefore, for operators to be trained in trauma management is a reality today, because during the pandemic, the number of people resorting to therapy for various reasons has increased: “From the fear of contagion to the emergence of death anxiety- Melody explains– in some cases we can also observe positive phenomena, such as the increase in communication through telematic means or the awareness of one's own deep psychological needs that pushes some people to ask for introspective psychoanalytic work to find greater inner harmony. I believe that requests for help for all therapeutic methods have increased”, he concludes.
