From June 10th to 20th, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in a site-specific installation in the San Francesco delle Monache complex in Aversa for the “A Stroll with History” format

The Nostos Teatro Company will be performing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” outdoors from June 10 to 20 in the Monumental Complex of San Francesco delle Monache in Aversa.

After the twelfth edition dated 2018, “A spasso con la Storia” returns, the theatrical format created by Giovanni Granatina, Enzo Maiorca, Gina Oliva.

“The performances, two per evening at 19:00 pm and 21:15 pm, are performed by the eighty student actors of the Nostos Teatro who take turns outdoors, in the complex of San Francesco delle Monache, evocative both for its scenic design and for its monumental and artistic beauty.

For this edition of “A walk with history” William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” returns – explains Giovanni Granatina, director of the show with Dimitri Tetta -. The venue, which has a capacity of about 90 seats in a large outdoor space, responded perfectly to our scenic needs, but also to the practical ones related to distancing, allowing us to work safely”.

“The first edition of “A spasso con la storia” took place in the streets of the city of Aversa in 2006, since then twelve more have followed, up to this one in 2021 – continues director Dimitri Tetta. – Among the locations of the show, over time, we can include the historic center of the city of Aversa, the Monumental Complex of San Francesco and the former Cirio La Balzana factory in Santa Maria La Fossa”.

“In recent years, Nostos Teatro has become a point of reference in the province of Caserta for theatrical training, with numerous students starting from 6 years old and reaching adulthood – concludes Gina Oliva, President of Nostos Teatro. – We realized this especially in the long period of the pandemic, in which we never completely stopped work, precisely at the request of our loyal students. It is for them, but also for us, that we are happy to be able to return to the stage and offer a show, in total safety. Let's start again from the best we can offer to our city of Aversa”.

The show is not itinerant: the audience will always remain in their seats, respecting the rules of distancing. The actors will move between various outdoor 'stages'.
