Luisa Liguoro president of the Torre Annunziata Bar Association Council responds with a long note to the controversial resignations of 7 councilors.

"It is with sincere regret that I learned the news of the resignations of seven Councilors submitted yesterday evening after a Council meeting in which they had not been announced by anyone present. However, I would like to emphasize that the Council of the Order of Lawyers of Torre Annunziata will continue to work as it has always done: no earthquake has shaken its foundations, because they are based on democratic and representative principles", the president wanted to clarify in the note.

And then he added: “The COA I preside over, even in the toughest phase of political opposition, has always addressed the institutional and practical needs of the legal profession and, despite the terrible health emergency, has been able to represent a point of reference for the legal profession even in the crisis. The new legislation has institutionalized in the newly elected COAs the existence of a majority and an opposition and no Council of the Italian Order, born after the novella, has remained free from political opposition. However, after troubled initial events, common to numerous other experiences, the COA of Torre Annunziata has been able to find a synthesis within itself, thanks also to the sense of responsibility of some who, voluntarily sacrificing their positions, have guaranteed a newfound unity”.

Louise Liguoro he then specifies regarding the work of the council during his presidency: “This was clearly demonstrated by the unanimous approval of the 2020 financial statement and 2021 budget and, even more so, by the recent reorganization of the Council Commissions, the bodies through which the Council operates, and to which all the members of the Council, including those who resigned, were called, each according to their own aptitudes and sensitivities. Without wanting to go into the merits of the decision of these seven councilors, I would like to underline that our COA does not have any suspended or backward institutional practice and that, contrary to what is reported in their resignations, in this last year there have been two resolutions that have reduced the registration fee for lawyers to 50%, there are countless requests drawn up and sent to the various legal bodies, we have continued to incessantly ensure professional training for members, both remotely and in person, a continuous and constant presence has been ensured at the Council premises in order to receive all the legitimate complaints of the Class, not without remembering that a series of initiatives have been implemented all aimed at making the COA ever closer to its members (publication of the minutes of the council meetings on the website, continuous sending of informative emails including those with which all members have been asked to express their willingness to be nominated as members of the qualifying examination commissions and those with which they ... everyone is urged to express their complaints regarding the magistrates on whom the COA has been called to express its opinion)”.

And finally the president Louise Liguoro reiterates that despite the 7 resignations the council will continue to work: “Therefore I believe, without fear of being contradicted, that the representative elective mandate received from the many colleagues who two years ago, and not recently as they would like to imply, came en masse and in greater numbers than ever before in the history of the Oplontino COA, to vote for this Council has always been at the center of our attention and that, in dutiful respect for the same, this Council will continue to fulfill its duties as long as it is possible to do so and with the collaboration of all those who will have the honor and the burden of holding the office of Councilor with the same noble intentions that motivated all of us to run for office two years ago and never forgetting the institutional nature of the Coa and the spirit of service that should certainly be placed before any personal and/or political reflection”.
