Afghanistan: Kabul attacks toll rises to 90 dead and at least 150 injured
The death toll from the double suicide attack carried out yesterday by the jihadist group Islamic State at Kabul airport has risen to 90 dead and at least 150 injured, in a climate of tension just days before the planned end of the evacuations of foreigners and Afghans following the return to power of the Taliban.
CNN reports this, citing the Afghan Ministry of Public Health.
President Joe Biden, who has faced criticism following the deaths of 13 American soldiers in attacks, spoke to the nation, defending his decision to leave Afghanistan on August 31 and promising that the massacre would not go unpunished.
Spain, meanwhile, announced that it had completed its evacuation flights, as had Germany, the Netherlands, Canada and Australia. Britain's flights will be completed "within hours," London said a short while ago.
