Homophobic attack in Salerno. Two girls attacked, one lost two teeth. Borrelli: “Solidarity with the women attacked. We need cultural and legal reform to stop the intolerant and violent and protect people of all sexual orientations.”
In Castel San Giorgio, in the Salerno area, yet another homophobic attack has taken place. On the night between August 24 and 15, a 40-year-old man attacked two engaged women, originally from Nocera. One of the girls lost two teeth from the blows. The Carabinieri were on site and stopped the local man, already known to the police.
"In 2021, homophobia, the daughter of cultural backwardness, ignorance and narrow-mindedness, should be overcome and instead we are witnessing a phenomenon that is constantly growing. This is the sign that our society instead of suffering the benefits of cultural enrichment, as would be normal, is going towards unprecedented cultural and social degradation, we are facing a new Middle Ages. We are really worried, here it is urgent to intervene with a cultural but also legal reform so that people of any sexual orientation are never again discriminated against and considered 'different' and the intolerant and violent are put in conditions of no longer harming anyone."– commented the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
