Avellino. A fire broke out during the traditional fireworks display for the Ferragosto Avellino.
During the pyromusical displays that were set up in Piazzale degli Irpini, in front of the Partenio Stadium, a tree caught fire, probably due to some sparks carried by the wind.
The flames immediately spread to an area a few metres from the Mauro's Shovel, close to the houses. The timely intervention of the firefighters, alerted while the show was in progress, was necessary to prevent the worst.
In that moment hundreds of people had gathered nearby to watch the show more closely. There was no shortage moments of fear, but fortunately no injuries were reported.
