The fire broke out on board a fifteen-meter long cabin cruiser coming from Ventotene and headed to Maiori. All six occupants originally from Naples and its province were saved.
The rescue operations, coordinated by the operational department of the maritime directorate of Naples, were carried out by the Capri Coast Guard, with two patrol boats equipped with water cannons, and by a Carabinieri vessel equipped for rescue operations and operations.
The six castaways were all transferred in good condition to the offices of the Port Authority of Capri to reconstruct the dynamics of the events while the nautical vehicles remained on site and in the late morning the environmental anti-pollution motor vessel Ievoleco Quinto was also sent. Sailors, carabinieri and Coast Guard are trying to recover the vessel to avoid the sinking which could be a factor in pollution in the area.
