Bad weather in Amalfi Coast, affected, in the early afternoon, by a water bomb.
Problems have been reported in Minori where torrential rain has brought down mud and stones invading the streets, and in Atrani where the Dragone torrent has overflowed its bed. “Now – explains the mayor of Minori, Andrea Reale, to AGI – investigations are being carried out with the fire brigade helicopter to establish the causes, whether they are landslides or whether they are connected to landslides already known in the Casa Rossa area of Ravello”.
The mayor recalls that “the Municipality of Minori has prepared, with Vera Corbelli of the Southern Apennines District Basin Authority, a detailed study, which began eight months ago, to establish the conditions for living with the risk of mudslides that are affecting Minori. We expect to finish this study very quickly and then be funded for an early warning and monitoring plan with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan”.
Even in Atrani there are problems. “We had a semi-flood,” the mayor Luciano De Rosa Laderchi told AGI, clarifying that, due to the heavy rain, “the Dragone river came out of its bed, it went down via dei Dogi, which in the meantime we had already cleared of parked cars because at the first signs we immediately alerted the town and the road was empty and the water was able to go down”.
Now, there is debris that is being removed. No injuries have been reported, but only some flooding. “We sounded the alarm with the siren on time – he adds – in September, on the anniversary of the 2010 flood, the Marina arch will be named after Francesca Mansi, the girl who lost her life on that occasion. In her honor, a work in the shape of a mermaid will be unveiled”. In Ravello, some small landslides have been reported, but work is already underway to remove the debris from the streets.
