The airport management of Capodichino, prompted by Borrelli, she apologizes to Ricciardi, the disabled journalist, for the treatment he received.
After the incident reported by the young disabled man, the Journalist Dario Ricciardi, who told how the return journey from the holidays in Sardinia to the Capodichino airport in Naples turned into a nightmare due to inadequate reception and treatment, the Regional Councillor of Europa Verde, Francesco Emilio Borrelli sent a note to Gesac, company that manages the airport, to ask for a public apology to Ricciardi and what plan to adapt the facilities, equipment and staff has been adopted to be able to welcome and manage disabled travellers with dignity so that such episodes do not happen again.
“I have carefully read your report which had already reached us through various other channels including the Campania Forum of Rare Disease Associations.
First of all, in joining in your solidarity with Dr. Ricciardi for the unpleasant episode in which he was involved, we intend to reiterate our apologies for the serious inconvenience that occurred.
On the other hand, we intend to reassure you that what happened represents only an unjustifiable isolated episode far from our consolidated standards which provide for adequate means given on free loan for use to the company GH Napoli which won the tender for the provision of assistance services to passengers with reduced mobility.
Finally, we reiterate that we are very happy to host Dr. Ricciardi to confirm our regret for what happened."
This was the response sent by Dr. David Behar, Head of Human Resources & Organization Department GESAC SpA
"We sincerely hope that what happened to Ricciardi was just an isolated incident and we hope he will accept the apologies and the invitation from the airport management. We will continue to follow the developments of the story and to verify that disabled people see their rights respected", Borrelli's comment.
Dr. intervened on the matter Salvatore Caianiello GH Napoli employee at Capodichino airport and working in the PRM (disabled assistance) sector.“First of all, the entire PRM sector officially apologizes to Dr. Dario Ricciardi for what happened”, explains Caianiello.
And then she adds: “Certainly all people should not be treated badly, disabled or not, and respect is needed in any job you do. However, dear Dr. Dario Ricciardi cannot point the finger and offend an entire sector, all the Airport employees, with offensive words, such as monkeys, howls and zoo. Because I would like to point out that behind the service provided there are fathers who, to offer the best during work, sacrifice holidays and the affections of their respective families. People who carry out this work with passion because they love helping others. In any sector, a bad event can happen and we apologize for this, but we would also like to make Dr. Dario Ricciardi and regional councilor Borrelli understand that they have used inappropriate words towards people who sacrifice their lives to help disabled people travel in the best possible way”.
