CasertaThe ordinance against violent nightlife announced for Caserta by the Public Order and Safety Committee, which met on Monday following the murder of 18-year-old Gennaro Leone, has arrived.
Mayor Carlo Marine signed today the measure that provides for an even tighter crackdown on alcohol consumption.
A ban on the consumption of alcoholic beverages, of any strength and in any container, has been imposed daily from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM in public areas open to the public and used by the public throughout the city (with the exception of table service). A ban on the retail sale of alcoholic and spirits for takeaway purposes has been imposed from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM the following day for all neighborhood businesses, artisanal businesses, and vending machines, and from 10:00 PM onward sale of other beverages in glass containers for all commercial businesses. A total ban on the serving or sale of food and beverages by public businesses and artisanal businesses has been imposed from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM the following day, from Friday to Sunday, in the streets included in the quadrilateral area of Via Roma, Via Unità Italiana, Via San Carlo, Piazza Vanvitelli, Via Gasparri, and Via C. Battisti. In this area, considered "sensitive," establishments must close at 12:30 AM. From 10:00 PM onwards, music will be prohibited.
