Dubai Police: “This is how we arrested Imperiale and Mauriello”

The police of Dubai revealed today the details of the arrest of the Italian drug trafficker Raffaele Imperiale, arrested last August 4th and that of Raffaele Mauriello his trusted collaborator arrested 10 days later.

The arrest by the authorities of the United at the end of the investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples and conducted by the Gico of Naples and the Flying Squad of the Naples Police Headquarters, with the support of the Central Services of the Guardia di Finanza and the State Police. “The arrest of Imperiale and his right-hand man occurred after a period of close surveillance by a team of police investigators of Dubai”, the general said Khalil Ibrahim al-Mansouri, assistant to the commander in chief for investigative affairs in Dubai. According to the Emirati authorities, Raffaele Imperiale used a false name, Antonio Rocco, to hide his daily movements.

“Using the latest artificial intelligence technology, our officers tracked Imperiale’s whereabouts and raided his home, seizing large sums of money, watches and other valuables, including several paintings,” said the director of the criminal investigation department at Dubai Police, Jamal Salem al-Jallaf, who highlighted that Imperiale and Mauriello will be transferred to the Attorney General's Office which will handle their extradition in accordance with existing international agreements.

“Dubai Police explained: “Imperiale made sure to use multiple cars to conceal his daily movements. He also chose to live in a remote home with a vantage point to monitor those who approached him, and he intentionally avoided listing a specific address to mislead authorities and remain in the shadows.”

Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said that the arrest of Raffaele Imperiale and Raffaele Mauriello is another result of the fruitful cooperation between Dubai Police and international law enforcement agencies as per the directives of His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who has consistently directed the UAE forces to maintain strong, active and vital channels of communication with global law enforcement agencies and Interpol to counter transnational organized crime.

Close surveillance expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said that the arrest of Imperiale and his right-hand man came after they were placed under close surveillance by a team of elite investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Department aided by the latest artificial intelligence technologies available at the Dubai Police Criminal Data Analysis Centre and the “Oyoon” surveillance program.

Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Dubai Police, praised the exceptional efforts of all the investigative teams who were able to reveal the true identity of Raffaele Imperiale and foil his deceptive methods of lying low and hiding behind a false identity. Raid Al Jallaf said he had put Imperial under 24 hour surveillance for a whole week.

“Supported with the latest AI technologies, our officers tracked Imperiale’s movements and revealed his deceptive methods to evade detection. At Zero Hour, a task force raided the house and arrested Imperiale with high professionalism. The team also seized large sums of cash, luxury watches, and some valuables including paintings.”, added Al Jallaf.

Al Jallaf further explained that Dubai police have transferred Imperiale and Mauriello to the Prosecutor's Office, which would determine the mechanism for their extradition according to existing international agreements.
