Campania. There are still numerous appeals launched by medical personnel, hospital management and various associations to raise awareness among citizens to donate blood, especially to help patients who need continuous transfusions, such as thalassemics, or the small patients of the pediatric hospital of Posillipo Santonobo-Pausilipon.
Sensitive to the issue, having already launched numerous appeals and personally participated in various initiatives, also being a regular donor, is the Regional Councillor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli that with the radio host Gianni Simioli in the past few weeks he had made an appointment for citizens at Santobono-Pausilipon to donate blood.
"In Campania, the number of donations is well below the national average, there is much to reflect on. We often receive appeals, which we then share, about medical emergencies and urgent need for blood, but we need to understand that we need to intervene before these emergencies arise. Donating blood must become an act of love owed to the community.
The problem is that there is no sense of solidarity, not even for children, and we think of raising the alarm only when a family member, friend or acquaintance is involved. We must always donate. And then, selfishly speaking, with a donation you are entitled to free blood tests, breakfast and, what's more, which never hurts, you are rewarded with that feeling of having done good. All this with a quarter of an hour of our time." - the appeal of Borrelli and Simioli.
