The images of a person on board a ship speak for themselves. GesTour cleans the boat and throws plastic and waste into the water in the port of Pozzuoli.

“I was truly left speechless by the images sent to me by citizens, which immortalize a person on board a GesTour ship, who, while busy cleaning on board, promptly threw plastic and other waste into the sea instead of collecting it and throwing it in the recycling bin, without caring about the damage he was causing.

It is absurd that those who work with the sea are the first to not respect it. This is not the first episode of this type that we are forced to report, there are several people who send us similar images every year. I believe that anyone who sails, for work or pleasure, must respect the waters they plough. Unfortunately, the practice of cleaning boats at sea, with soaps, detergents and pollutants of various types, is very widespread.

It is a truly unworthy practice that is reported to us too often by citizens from all over the Region, and who knows how many other dirty people, instead, escape the eyes of the cameras. I believe it is necessary to introduce more severe penalties for these criminals.

Whoever pollutes must pay, this principle has been included in our penal code and must be strictly enforced, therefore it would also be necessary to intensify controls, especially in the height of the summer season, when vessel traffic is really high.

We will undoubtedly report GesTour for this wicked act and we expect that harsh measures will be taken against those who committed this act of contempt towards a very precious asset, the sea”. This is the complaint of the Regional Councillor of Europa Verde, Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
