Tragedy last night just before half past midnight in Monterotondo Marittimo, in the province of Grosseto. At the barracks a phone call arrived at 00:20 from a 48-year-old man who confessed to killing his 46-year-old girlfriend.
The man, in a state of great agitation, was not even able to specify where he was, managing only to say several times that he had killed the woman.
After several minutes he was located in a peripheral area of the municipality of Monterotondo Marittimo, in tears and with his clothes stained with blood in front of the car with the body of his partner inside, who had a visible wound to the throat. The magistrate on duty from the Public Prosecutor's Office of Grosseto arrived on site with the military of the Carabinieri company of Follonica and the Operations Department, the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Grosseto. The man, once loaded on board the military car, began to go on a rampage, breaking the window of the car in which he was traveling.
The knife, the murder weapon, was found near the body. The soldiers first had to calm the man down and then took him to the barracks, even with some difficulty, since, once he was put on board a police car, he started to get angry during the ride, breaking a window of the car. Then, already on the basis of the first investigations, he was arrested. The reasons for the killing of the girlfriend are still to be clarified. Investigations are ongoing.
The couple had recently moved to the municipality of Grosseto, where the tragedy occurred. The man was arrested for murder by the Carabinieri.
