The mayor of Rocchetta e Croce, a small town in the province of Caserta, has ordered “the immediate evacuation of the entire historic center” due to a “dangerous fire that has surrounded the entire town of Rocchetta, the main town”.
The mayor's decision, Salvatore Geremia, was taken after having “observed the enormous dimensions of the fire which closely threatens the homes in the historic center, causing enormous damage to buildings and enormous risks for people”The firefighters arrived on the scene.
The flames have caused damage to power lines but also the houses of the old town, a house located near the cemetery was destroyed by the flames. Luckily there was no one at home. The flames also caused damage to the water system and so the country is also without water.
