Almost ten hectares of privately owned pine forest burned on Vesuvius  common side of Torre del Greco.

There are six families temporarily forced to leave their homes since this afternoon while there are three helicopters and a Canadair committed to taming the flames. This is the result of a large fire that has been affecting the upper area of Greek's tower in an area located within the national park of Vesuvio.

To put out the flames, also fueled by the wind, and which had licked several civilian homes, a broad coordination led by the regional operations centre, alerted by the vice-president of the regional council, was decisive. Loredana Raia: ”I was contacted by the president of the Oasi Vesuvio association, Gerardo Borriello – explains – who first reported the fire and, after two regional helicopters had already arrived on site, we requested and obtained the arrival of a third vehicle, an S64, which was later joined by a Canadair sent by the national operations centre and previously engaged in another area of Italy”.
