Los Angeles. L’assassino di Robert F. Kennedy libero sulla parola dopo 53 anni di carcere.
The California commission that decides on the release of convicted prisoners has granted him freedom. And so Sirhan Sirhan, the man who in 1968 killed the Democratic candidate for the White House, brother of the president killed in Dallas, will be able to leave prison after 53 years.

However, the final decision now rests with state governor Gavin Newsom, who is campaigning for re-election, who can either accept the commission's recommendations or uphold Sirhan's prison sentence. Now 77, Sirhan, of Palestinian descent, has already applied for release 15 times. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has announced that it will not oppose Sirhan's eventual release.
“It’s been over half a century. The impulsive young man that I was is gone,” Sirhan told the commission, according to US media reports. After his arrest, Sirhan said he assassinated Kennedy, shooting him at point-blank range in a Los Angeles hotel, because the then-senator supported the state of Israel. Sirhan later said he had no memory of that day.
