Nola. How he died Michael Sicilian? And how could his death certificate be wrong? The relatives of the 31-year-old from Camposano who died on the night of August 2, 2021 following the after-effects of a serious road accident whose details are still unclear are asking for answers from the justice system and for this reason, through legal advisor Vincenzo Carotenuto, they have relied on Studio3A-Valore SpA, a company specialized at a national level in compensation for damages and the protection of citizens' rights.

English: So far one of the few but fundamental fixed points of the long "Via Crucis" of Michele, very well known and well liked by everyone not only in his town but in the whole area (his fate has aroused unanimous and deep emotion), is that the thirty-one year old, on the evening of June 20, around 21 pm, while he was travelling along the A30 motorway at km 24+700 in the locality of Palma Campania with his motorbike to return home after a day spent at the seaside, did not lose control of the vehicle on his own and ended up against the guardrail, as had been reported by more than one person: Sicilian who, ironically, worked at a driving school as an examiner, who issued driving licences and therefore knew the highway code very well, it was his job, was the victim of a collision in all respects with a car whose young driver has a name and surname, PC, 27 years old, from Capodrise (Caserta), and, above all, is being investigated for the crime of road homicide by the Public The Office of the Attorney General of Nola, in charge of the related criminal proceedings, is Dr. Arturo De Stefano.

Indeed, from the few and fragmentary reports, it was the driver himself, suddenly moving into the overtaking lane, who cut across the road and violently hit the victim's motorcycle which had already entered that lane and was overtaking him.

The rest, however, is sadly well known. Siciliano, falling on the asphalt, suffered very serious polytraumas, various fractures and lesions to internal organs: he was first transported to Santa Maria della Pietà in Nola and then transferred, due to his serious clinical condition, to the Ospedale del Mare in Naples, he underwent several surgical operations, he fought for over forty days of even lucid agony, between moments of despair and moments in which instead it seemed he could make it, until at 2.20 on August 2nd his heart gave up, throwing his loved ones and many friends into despair.

As if that were not enough, the mother and brother had to experience the second shock of the “blocking” of the funeral as the officers of the Nola detachment of the Highway Police, who had detected the accident and followed the whole affair, and who were also supposedly notified late by the Ospedale del Mare of the death, by pure chance - and luckily - realized that in the death certificate, with attached attestation for cremation, the doctor who wrote it, on duty that night in the Intensive Care Unit, had excluded that it could be “the consequence of any crime”, whereas instead Siciliano had clearly died following a road accident on which there was already an open file at the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Thanks to the intervention of the police, the body remained at the disposal of the judicial authorities for a few more days, who, equally appropriately, immediately ordered an autopsy, essential not only to clarify the causes of death, obviously directly attributable to the consequences of the accident, but above all to exclude, given the considerable amount of time that had elapsed between the accident and death, any liability of the doctors who treated him and also to draw, from the assessment of the injuries, elements useful for reconstructing the dynamics of the collision. The examination was carried out on August 4 by the coroner appointed by the Public Prosecutor, Dr. Massimo Esposito.

The doctor who wrote the “incriminating” certificate, ADL, 43 years old, from Naples, was in turn reported for forgery of a public document and omission of official duties and here too Siciliano’s relatives are counting on getting to the bottom of this further and painful tail of the story and understanding whether it was, as they hope, a mere mistake and how it could have happened. Of course, it should be noted that now what is most important to the victim’s relatives is that full light be shed on the causes and responsibilities of the accident and in this sense they hope that the Deputy Prosecutor can also order an ad hoc kinematic assessment, in which case Studio3A would immediately make one of its own experts available as an expert for the family to participate in the expert operations.
