Procida. Workshops for separate waste collection and reuse of recycled materials and earth manipulation. In general, to promote a more conscious use of natural elements and encourage sustainable lifestyles.
So, throughout the month of July, Legambiente Campania and LESS Onlus they gave life to the project “Procida: The island I would like”, whose recipients were 20 beneficiaries including mothers and children involved in the SPRAR AIDA project of the Municipality of Procida with LESS Cooperativa Sociale as the managing body, single-parent families of migrants inserted into the social fabric of the island. The collaboration was born with the aim of encouraging the sharing of experiences that strengthen the values of solidarity and further promote integration and socialization, through actions aimed at strengthening the protection of the environment.
At the end of the workshop, the youth association “Procida coraggiosa” donated thermal water bottles to the beneficiaries – along with the little migrants and many children from Procida – symbolic objects of a green initiative that encourages the abandonment of water sold in plastic bottles at bars, beaches and restaurants, in favor of supplying it on tap. The donated water bottles were generously offered by the merchants who joined the initiative (called “acquaFREEsca”), aimed at significantly reducing waste from PET water bottles, especially in the summer, when the island is taken by storm by tourists.
The merchants who join the initiative have already committed to selling water on tap at a symbolic price, significantly lower than the same quantity in a PET bottle. Customers who do not have their own water bottle are offered - at particularly convenient prices - colorful thermal steel water bottles branded with the logo of the business and the association, entirely composed of young people from Procida with diversified skills and whose activities embrace social, training and environmental issues.
