The accusation is that of manslaughter. A necessary act, and arrived only in the last hours after the necessary investigations into what happened. The medical examiner of the University of Catanzaro, Isabella Aquila, began the autopsy this morning on the body of Simona Cavallaro, the twenty-year-old killed by the gang.

The Carabinieri of the Soverato Company are working hard to reconstruct what happened in the pine forest of Monte Fiorino, aware that it is necessary to provide certainty about what happened, also to avoid other episodes from occurring in the future.

Among the elements to be identified, even if that flock of goats with guard dogs could be in that area. Twelve Maremma and mixed breed dogs were captured in the area of Monte Fiorino, the picnic area of Satriano (Catanzaro) where twenty-year-old Simona Cavallaro died, torn to pieces by animals that were guarding a flock of goats.

Many of these dogs are stained with blood and some scientific findings will reconstruct what happened in the attack last Thursday. The experts, coordinated by the Carabinieri Company of Soverato led by Lieutenant Luca Palladino, have in fact taken some hair samples with the aim of identifying with certainty which of these animals participated in the attack.

A meticulous job, which comes after two days of intense searches to catch the animals and secure the area usually used for out-of-town trips. Also for this reason, the area is currently off limits, since it is necessary to understand if there may be other dogs in circulation that could, possibly, create further problems.
