The mayor of Castel Volturno writes to Minister Lamorgese: 15 thousand irregulars on the territory

In his appeal the mayor of Castel Volturno, Luigi Umberto Petrella exposes the various problems that grip Castel Volturno, concluding with the request for a face-to-face meeting with the Minister.

On the occasion of the provincial committee on public order and safety, held on 26 July 2021, the minister Luciana Lamorgese had the opportunity to visit the places that were the subject of the issues discussed. One of the municipalities directly involved in the discussion was Castel Volturno, for which the issue of irregular immigration is extremely urgent.

“Castel Volturno has an immigrant population of 35 thousand, with approximately 15 thousand irregulars”, this is the statement that summarizes the intervention of Minister Lamorgese before proposing some possible solutions. The strategy that the minister chooses as a concrete proposal is that of repatriation.

The attention paid by the minister to the municipality of Caserta, the nerve center of irregular immigration in the Campania region, was a source of inspiration for Mayor Luigi Umberto Petrella who this morning sent a letter to Minister Lamorgese to briefly explain the situation in Castel Volturno and invite her to a meeting to begin a process aimed at addressing the main problems that afflict the territory.

“Your authoritative intervention inspires me to make a deep and heartfelt request for help. I ask you for a meeting to be able to explain, with data in hand, the dramatic situation that the City I administer is experiencing, from every point of view: social, environmental, economic, territorial; and to agree on activities and/or initiatives to be implemented to address the gravity of the situation. Without your help, without the help of the State, Castel Volturno cannot make it. I await with extreme trust your favorable response and send you my respectful greetings”.
