Fourteen People Saved by Three Lifeguard Dogs in Sperlonga

Three families, with eight children between 6 and 12 years old, were rescued by three Canine Units of the Italian School of Rescue Dogs yesterday around 16pm, in the stretch of coast between the free beach called Spiaggia dell'Angolo and the Altamarea Beach, Sperlonga.

A complex rescue operation that has 14 people brought back to shore in total.The group was about 100 meters from the shore on mattresses, dinghies and a surfboard. Due to the sudden swell of the sea, the swimmers were dragged by the current and they were no longer able to return to the beach. The waves catapulted some of them out of the inflatables and they found themselves in great difficulty and began to scream for help.

The alarm was raised by a girl who reached the Sics station about a hundred meters away. The rescuers intervened labrador eros of 4 years, Mya of 7 years e Mira of 5, who have made more trips for bring everyone back safely to the shore. The long and complex operation lasted 20 minutes.

Watching the rescue operations with bated breath were around 400 people who gathered on the beach and welcomed the four-legged lifeguards with applause and words of gratitude.

I am increasingly convinced that the choice of the Municipal Administration to implement the safety of bathers thanks to the presence of lifeguard dogs, was the right choice. And this intervention on a particularly crowded stretch of beach confirms it".
