arcade. The 5 Star Movement of Portici, led by the group leader Alessandro Caramel, continues to shine a spotlight on the failed management of paid parking in the city of the Royal Palace.
Following a specific check, it emerged that starting this winter, paid parking in the city will undergo a rate increase. Specifically, from January 1st to November 30th, the minimum rate for paid parking will be 1 euro. The Municipality, in this way, has eliminated the possibility of parking for 30 minutes (hourly fraction) at a cost of 50 cents.
While from December 1st to December 31st parking will also be paid on Sundays without any interval: "A merchant, a non-resident, a customer who wants to spend in Portici in the month of December will have to shell out 11,00 euros a day. A bloodbath that will give the final blow to Portici's commerce and to the pockets of citizens - reports Alessandro Caramiello -. Just walk around to see, unfortunately, how many shops are already closed".
Caramiello continues, denouncing the failed management of the yellow and blue lines in the Portici area: “Citizens will be deprived of the possibility of parking for thirty minutes, while for the month of December non-resident customers will have to park daily, including Saturdays and Sundays, with a per capita expense of 11 euros per day – he reiterated – a customer who will have to spend in Portici, will think carefully, considering the high price for parking. We do not yet know the fee for the Municipality that has decided to once again entrust the service to an external company, but we are certain that the citizens will always pay the costs”.
Il Movement 5 Stars, furthermore, the drafting of alternative proposals to the modus operandi of the current municipal administration continues: “We believe that it is essential, at this point, to carry out an intervention maneuver to give citizens some breathing space – he continues – such as, for example, the internalization of the service in Leucopetra, 99% owned by the Municipality of Portici, hiring all the employees, currently employed by the private company, thus eliminating the company's profit.
It is necessary to create interchange and peripheral parking lots, for which we have already identified several areas such as the large parking lot on Via Farina and many others that we will illustrate later so as to recover hundreds of parking spaces. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide annual subscriptions for traders and residents offering an eco-sustainable transport service”.
