A strong shock of earthquake, with a magnitude between 4.3 and 4.8, was recorded by the seismographs of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in the province of Palermo at 6.14.
The epicenter would have been located at sea, at wide of Cefalu'. The earthquake was felt by the population especially in Madonie area, but also in the capital many were awakened by the tremor. There were many calls to firefighters. No damage has been reported so far.
“So far we have not received any requests for intervention for damage to people or things” they say from the operations center of the Palermo fire brigade, after the earthquake.

The epicenter of the seismic event was located in the open sea (latitude 38.12 longitude 13.89), at a depth of about 6 kilometers. The magnitude 4.3 shock recorded in the Palermo area this morning at 6.14 was located in the sea, between Cefalù, Lascari and Campo Felice.
