Velletri. Two Neapolitan street vendors were arrested for improper robbery yesterday evening by the Carabinieri of the Velletri and the Colleferro company because, pretending to be street fruit vendors, they identified and defrauded elderly people. The Velletri carabinieri, alerted by the operations center, went to the parking lot in front of a grocery store to help an elderly couple who were clearly agitated.
The two reported that, shortly before, two Italian men, aged between forty and fifty, on board a white Fiat Doblo' van, had first approached them with an excuse and then snatched a purse containing cash and documents from their hands. The two elderly men, who had attempted to take back what had been unjustly stolen from them, were jostled and pushed by the criminals who then disappeared on board their van. The report, via the operations center, was distributed to other units.
Having escaped with the stolen goods, ready to head back to the province of Naples from which they came, the two individuals were stopped by the Carabinieri of the Carpineto Romano station at the height of the Valmontone motorway toll booth. Both were arrested on charges of improper robbery and taken to the Velletri prison.

From the first investigations carried out, it also emerged that the two arrested had started a real scam and theft ring to the detriment of the elderly in the Castelli Romani area. The unfortunates on duty, attracted by a van on board which was simulated an activity of selling fruit and vegetables at advantageous prices, were then deceived and robbed during the sale.
A real itinerant criminal activity through which, daily, criminals left Naples to pour into the territories bordering the province of Rome in order to rob elderly subjects and, therefore, with evident difficulty in defending themselves. The Carabinieri of the Velletri Company, on the basis of what happened, are still developing specific investigative activity to better define the responsibilities of the two arrested subjects.
