Angelo Vassallo, digital work installed in memory of the Mayor of Pollica

Installed today at Steeli, on the day of the barbaric assassination of Angelo Vassallo, a 'digital monument' in augmented reality, in memory of the late 'Fisherman Mayor'.

The work was donated to the Municipality of Pollica, by the Cilento Marco Del Sorbo, Social media manager and digital strategist who aims, through the creation of digital innovation projects, to increase initiatives in support of local culture.

To view the 'digital monument', it will be necessary to go to the seaside village of Acciaroli and aim for the camera of the cell phone on a QR code applied to a special installation in a precise point of the Acciaroli cliff. A digital snapshot will appear as if by magic: a three-dimensional frame within which the now iconic image of the “fisherman mayor” while toasting with the blue sea of ​​Cilento. The work is floating, light in the air and can be positioned in space through the use of augmented reality, at any time but exclusively in Acciaroli.

“I have long wanted to create a work of this kind, I felt a strong desire, as someone navigating the digital universe, to give my personal contribution to the beauty of my land and to the personalities who have brilliantly represented it.

After the success of the project “digitalization of cultural heritage” I understood that this way of communicating was functional to reach and consequently involve a younger audience that is sometimes not very involved in some issues. Thus “digital monumentalism” was born, a new Smart concept that will have the aim of creating a real new artistic current, which will involve all the “artisans of the digital world” capable of creating works/monuments through innovative tools of the 21st century.
