The event, organized by Luciano Cotena's company Eventualmente Eventi & Comunicazione, will start from the Le Ondine beach in Capri and finish in the waters in front of the Circolo Canottieri Napoli. There will be 16 athletes in the men's field and 12 in the women's field.

The press conference was held today at the Antisala dei Baroni del Maschio Angioino, in the presence of the organizers, as well as the councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Naples Ciro Borriello; the president of Coni Campania, Sergio Roncelli; the president of the Campania committee of Fin, Paolo Trapanese; the national coordinator for long-distance swimming, Stefano Rubaudo; the national Fin councilor and coordinator of Fiamme Oro Napoli, Luca Piscopo; Fabio de Concilio, CEO of Farmacosmo.

Among the men, the debuts of Simone Ruffini of Fiamme Oro (world champion in the 25 km in Kazan in 2015) and Axel Reymond, French, reigning world champion in the same distance having won the 2017 and 2019 world championships, stand out. The 2020 winner, Dutchman Marcel Schouten, returns, and there will also be Argentine Damian Blaum (absent last year), winner in Naples in 2010 and 2015.

Also starting is the Macedonian Evgenij Pop Acev, first in 2016 and two-time winner of the specialty cup (2017 and 2019). Among the Italians, in addition to Ruffini, there is also Edoardo Stochino (Fiamme Oro), who won the specialty cup in 2016 and 2018 and who is chasing success in the Capri-Napoli, in which he will participate for the eleventh time. With him Alessio Occhipinti (also Fiamme Oro) who last year finished third in his debut and Francesco Ghettini (Marina Militare) who in 2018 brought Italy back to success 48 years after Giulio Travaglio's last victory.

In the women's field, the reigning champion and holder of the absolute record, Arianna Bridi, was forced to withdraw, having skipped the European Championships in Budapest and having to give up defending her title at the Capri-Napoli. Instead, there will be the French Caroline Jouisse, third in 2020, and the Argentine Pilar Geijo, already winner in 2011 and 2015, who with this participation is the woman who has started the Capri-Napoli the most times (12). Among the Italians, eyes are on Barbara Pozzobon (Fiamme Oro) who is looking for a hat trick after her triumphs in 2018 and 2019.
