Camorra: 200 years in prison requested for the Senese clan

Camorra exported to Rome: heavy-handed action by the Prosecutor's Office which has requested a total of over 190 years of prison for the Sienese clan governed by the boss Michele Senese known as o' pazzo.

These are the requests of the Rome prosecutor's office against the 26 defendants in the trial born from the maxi operation 'Family Business' against the Senese Camorra clan. The defendants are charged, to varying degrees, with the crimes of extortion, usury, fraudulent transfer of assets, money laundering, self-laundering and reinvestment of illicit proceeds: for some of these, the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method was also contested.

And the sentences requested range from a maximum of 18 years, urged by the prosecutor Francesco Minisci towards Michele Senese, known as 'O Pazzo', to 3 years. Seventeen years were instead requested for Senese's son, Vincenzo. Eight years for his brother Angelo and his wife Raffaella Gaglione. The investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor of the DDA Ilaria Calo', had led last July to the maxi operation carried out by the Special Unit of the Currency Police of the Guardia di Finanza and the Flying Squad.

The investigation revealed that Michele Siena even from prison he continued to coordinate and manage the family's illicit activities by establishing the criminal strategy, exchanging 'pizzini' with family members during meetings, in particular with his son Vincenzo, and with his wife, Raffaella Gaglione. On at least two occasions, Senese had exchanged with his son, without being noticed by the security personnel, the shoes they were wearing to exchange messages.
