Castellammare. “Following the request of the local trade unions, after the Institutional summit at the Prefecture, a meeting was held today at the NAPLES Industrial Union with the Company to discuss investments and industrial prospects for the establishment of the Castellammare di Stabia shipyard”.
This is the note from the secretariats of Fiom Cgil, Fim Cisl and Uilm Uil territorial. "At the table we reiterated the strong concerns regarding the lack of detailed information on the announced investments and the feared negative impacts linked to initiatives unrelated to the industrial vocation of the site. The company, with the aim of strengthening and modernizing the Stabia shipyard, has confirmed investments of approximately 40 million euros aimed at making it possible to build ships, or parts of ships, larger than the current capacities.
In detail, in addition to its own investments (€31M) for the maintenance and safety of the shipyard and for the renewal of the Panel line, the company has also announced further investments (€9M) for the equipment of the new platform and the new quay, subordinating them to the announced investments by the PA. During the discussion, the Company confirmed that there are no concerns about workloads in the medium term.
Regarding the hypotheses of redefining the industrial perimeters, the company has communicated that a technical table has been set up with the ADSP to find the right balances that, without compromising the activities and industrial developments of the construction site, are a solution to the various needs expressed. The company has undertaken to inform the trade unions of the decisions that will be taken in the technical table.
In the knowledge that a significant and necessary share of investments is subordinated to the actions of the PA, we will share with CGIL CISL and UIL the need for a table with the Institutions to monitor, if necessary strongly urge the progress of the process for the release of the funding intended for the modernization of the shipyard".
