Circumvesuviana. “Eight trips a day cancelled for each route, with a peak of 39 fewer trips in the month of September alone. A good 48 trips were cancelled each day compared to the announcements of last summer and 66 fewer than in 2019. The Circumvesuviana season began worse than in previous years, with systematic inconveniences that led to an inevitable recourse, by users, to their own means of transport to get to and from the capital.
Not to mention the health risks in a Covid emergency phase, due to the inevitable overcrowding recorded inside the trains, considering that the cancelled trips are added to those that are systematically cancelled every day. At the origin, a programming of new timetables based on the use of overtime by employees, triggering a tug of war with the unions of which the citizens of Campania are the ones to pay the price”.
This was declared by the regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement Gennaro Saiello, on the sidelines of the question time session in the Council chamber. “Today I wanted to question the council in the chamber – Saiello underlined – to ask whether the Region intends to request changes to the operating program of the Circumvesuviana, providing for a number of trips and travel times that meet the needs of students, workers and tourists.
A program that also meets the needs of workers. The lack of staff cannot be compensated for by systematically resorting to overtime, weighing on the quality of the employees' work and the safety of public transport".
