The judges of the Rome Tribunal decided this and also sentenced Valentino Cassini and the former councilor of the Tenth Municipality of Naples (Fuorigrotta, Bagnoli) Antonio Di Dio and six years and six months. Four and a half years were instead given to Giuseppe Liccardo.
The charges contested to varying degrees in the investigation by the Rome prosecutor's office, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Paolo Ielo and the prosecutor Gennaro Varone, are corruption in judicial acts, corruption in the exercise of function, illicit influence peddling, attempted extortion and personal favouritism.
According to the investigating judge of Rome who signed the order with the precautionary measures in 2019, it was a group capable of “suspend criminal enforcement proceedings and delay bankruptcy credit checks, cause the release of prisoners and the release of the assets of important members of organised crime”.
