This night the State Police of Caserta Police Headquarters (Flying Squad), with the support of the Flying Squad of Foggia, executed, on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples (District Anti-Mafia Directorate), an order for the application of precautionary custody issued by Court of Naples (Office of the Judge for Preliminary Investigations) against 13 people.

The following were arrested: Andrea Zampella, born in 1994; Marzena Marlena Mazgaj, born in 1999; Francesco Martucci, born in 1991; Ivan Martucci, born in 1995; Annalisa Pisani, born in 1995; Benito Di Tommaso, born in 1994; Antonio Minutillo, born in 1974; Francesco Pisanti, born in 1971; Giorgio Monteforte, born in 1983; Raffaele Caccia, born in 1992; Savino De Fazio, born in 1986; Ciro De Filippo, born in 1989; Luigi Piscitelli, born in 1987.

All were ordered to be transferred to prison except Mazgaj and Pisani for which the judge has ordered house arrest. The thirteen suspects are seriously suspected of belonging to a criminal association dedicated to drug trafficking, particularly active among the municipalities of Caserta and Maddaloni, with ramifications also in the Foggia area.

The restrictive measure was issued following a complex investigation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office and developed by the Caserta Mobile Squad, started following a police check, carried out on the road in the city centre of Caserta, against a young man caught in possession of approximately 22.000 euros in cash, hidden in a double bottom made in the hood of a powerful BMW, as well as some handwritten sheets on which names, nicknames, quantities expressed in grams and numbers were reported.

The investigators had already immediately realised that it could be a "ledger" useful for documenting business related to the buying and selling of narcotic substances. Therefore, the young man under control was reported for the crime of money laundering while, at the same time, investigations were developed into the potential "network" of drug dealers to whom the significant sum of money could actually belong.

The investigation has thus progressively outlined the existence of a criminal organisation with tasks distributed in a "horizontal" sense but with the presence of an undisputed leader represented by Little paw. The logistics base was identified within a popular district of Caserta. It emerged that the group in question was tested in its operational mechanisms through a rigorous division of tasks between elements responsible for taking care of the “wholesale” supply of drugs and those with retail “sale” functions of the drug.

Observation and shadowing services, telephone traffic analysis and technical interception activities have thus documented, on the one hand, the innumerable transfers of cocaine, hashish, marijuana and crack in favor of final consumers, on the other hand the association's supply channel from two drug suppliers, one gravitating towards Naples (De Filippo) and one towards Caserta (Caccia).
During the investigation, the Caserta Flying Squad seized approximately 20 kilos of hashish, 200 grams of marijuana and over 150 grams of cocaine.

Furthermore, following a house search inside Zampella's home, located in a popular district of Caserta, he found an illegally held pistol, “Smith & Wesson” caliber “38 special” with 13 cartridges, approximately 100 grams of cocaine, 370 grams of hashish and 150 grams of marijuana. Zampella was arrested. The weapon and the drugs were hidden, through a sophisticated “system”, behind the “television holder” bracket.

The availability of weapons by the criminal organization was later confirmed by a further seizure. In fact, during a house search in Piscitelli's home, the Caserta Flying Squad found a replica gun model “315 auto” “caliber 8” but modified so as to be suitable for firing like a common firearm, as well as 6 cartridges.

The investigative activity has allowed us to build a serious circumstantial framework in terms of guilt against all the suspects who have been charged, to varying degrees, with the crimes referred to in articles 74 and 73 of Presidential Decree 309/90. This morning, at dawn, the restrictive measure was executed with the arrests of 13 under investigation. During the searches, further narcotic substances were seized.
