Ercolano, the Locanda di Emmaus was robbed: it's a child care center. The mayor expressed outrage.
Theft inside the Locanda di Emmaus in via Aldo Moro in Ercolano: unknown persons, last night, forced the shutter and, once inside, took away a laptop and a coffee machine, leaving the lockers open.
The episode was reported to the Carabinieri of the local station and is causing indignation in the city and on social media since the Locanda di Emmaus, a youth pastoral center, is a place of recovery for children at risk of deviance.
Founded in 1999 by the will of the priest, Pasquale Incoronato, recreational and cultural activities are carried out there in order to promote integration, in addition to amateur sports activities and play workshops.
"I feel so much anger for what happened last night at the Emmaus Inn. Whoever committed this vile act tried to steal something very important from the most vulnerable groups: the possibility of a future", comments the mayor of Ercolano, Ciro Buonajuto “But dignity, love for others, let’s not let anyone trample on them. An act of immense gravity, it’s as if they had entered the homes of each of us, violating what we hold most dear. It’s unthinkable even to think that there are people who have no respect for a place that carries out a very important social action for our community. The parishes, together with the schools, represent the first educational agencies in the area and are committed every day to transmitting love, spreading the culture of legality. To Father Pasquale Incoronato and his volunteers I say: you are not alone! This is a battle for legality and inclusion that we will fight side by side!”.
