In the first home game of the season (played at the Paolo Borsellino in Volla) the St. George loses narrowly against Lavello. After the draw on the Virtus Matino field in their debut, Squillante's team fails to collect points in the challenge with the Lucanian yellow-greens, wasting a lot, especially in the first half.
The match begins and in the first ten minutes there is a shot for each side: first Marcellino tries for Lavello, then Navas responds, with the ball out in both cases. At 21′ a free kick for San Giorgio: the specialist Raiola on the ball, the goalkeeper Amata parries, Mancini arrives and kicks and the visiting goalkeeper takes refuge in the corner. At 20′ Marcellino for Lavello, the ball out to the left of Barbato. Minute 38, another shot by Mancini parries by Amata. Double chance for the Granata: at 42′ Raiola shoots on the outside of the net and a minute later Di Franco from a good position concludes by sending the ball just wide.
In the second half, Lavello was dangerous in the 52nd minute with Statella who tested Barbato with a header. In the 55th minute, Caprioli tried for San Giorgio, the ball went just over the crossbar: on that occasion, the Granata player suffered muscular problems and was forced to leave the field. In the 68th minute, Raiola's free kick was parried and a minute later, Lavello scored: Burzio reached the area with the ball at his feet, beat an opponent and concluded with Barbato who parried it, Mercuri pounced on the ball and deposited it into the net for the visitors' lead. Mercuri tried to close it out four minutes later but this time his conclusion was one to forget and from a good position he fired high. Lavello again, first in the 83rd minute with Burzio who found the local goalkeeper's response in two stages and then in the 85th minute when Mercuri, positioned in the centre of the penalty area, concluded by hitting the post to the right of the goalkeeper. In the final minutes, San Giorgio tried to score but the result did not change and the Lucanians could celebrate their first victory in the championship.
