The foyer of the prestigious Teatro San Carlo hosted the award ceremony for the 20 Jaked swimming scholarships to children supported by the associations Accendiamo una stella for you, Centro La Tenda, TuttiColori, and Fondazione Pavesi. The scholarships were presented to the children by champion Federica Pellegrini, Jaked spokesperson, promoter, and supporter of the valuable and tangible "Swim to Believe" initiative, which shows youngsters the real possibility of a bright future. The children received registration for a year-long swimming course and a kit including a backpack, swimsuit, goggles, cap, and bathrobe. The press conference was moderated by journalist Titti Improta.

“Borrowing the words of Carmelo Bene who said that 'sport and theatre are very similar because they are two forms of expression where one has a role', I am happy that this initiative is taking place in the foyer of the San Carlo theatre – thus opens the meeting with the press Emmanuela Spedaliere, general director of the Teatro San Carlo –. It is important to make these two parallel worlds, destined to meet, talk to each other, I am thinking, for example, of our dance school. We must always invest in cultural projects to train future generations and having a great champion, like Federica Pellegrino, so attentive to social issues, with the mission of transmitting sports culture is truly a precious commitment for our community”.

“I am proud to be the godmother of this important initiative that combines sport and solidarity – declares Federica Pellegrini –. We will give some Neapolitan children the chance to get closer to the world of swimming, offering them the opportunity to discover an Olympic discipline made of commitment, dedication, training and team spirit. Values that they will carry with them for their entire lives”.

“Among the many emotions I experience daily with my work, these are the ones that make me happiest – declares Raffaele Carlino, president of Miriade and President of Napoli Women’s Football –. I am truly proud that this City that I love so much never forgets to be a protagonist when it comes to solidarity and values. Sport is an added value to everyone that must be offered to everyone”.

"Sport is healthy growth and training of the individual with respect for others. And among all sports, swimming and football are the most loved by children and young people. – declares Francesco Tripodi, general manager of Miriade and head of brand Jaked –. Awarding this morning the scholarships for a year of swimming lessons and the kit to attend it is a sign that Jaked wants to give to the children, their families and the territory. A sign of attention and desire to build concrete paths. I am grateful to Federica Pellegrini, the pride of Italy, for her presence, her spirit and her generosity. A champion who has brought the nation to the most prestigious podiums gives these children a gift that lasts a whole year. And I am grateful to Emmanuela Spedaliere because she enthusiastically welcomed this event in the Foyer of the Teatro San Carlo. The greatest Neapolitan, the greatest expression of our culture”.

“Dr Tripodi and President Carlino are offering a great opportunity to children who have the possibility to move to other neighborhoods of the city and enrich their wealth of experiences. – declares Titty De Marco, head of the minors and families area at the Centro La Tenda Association –. With this scholarship they are given the opportunity to learn about new sports, new friends, other significant adults, who will certainly leave an important mark on their life path. The schools in the Sanità district, with which the association has memoranda of understanding, are committed to recognizing the formative significance of this experience in the context of school assessment, as is already done for all the growth experiences lived by children with the support of the association. A way of acting that serves to combat school dropout”.

"It is an important initiative that combines sport and solidarity. It allows some Neapolitan minors to learn and become passionate about swimming and to acquire values and rules for life. – declares Maria Rotunno, president of the association Accendiamo una Stella for you –. The presence of a champion like Federica Pellegrini reinforces the message of solidarity and concrete hope”.

“The preciousness of the swimming course shines through on the faces of the children who leave their holidays having dreamed from afar of the taste of the sea and the coolness of the mountains – declares Sister Lucia Sacchetti, Pavesi Foundation and Tutti i colori Association –. But the sun and the moon have caressed them where they spend the hours of the day: the step of the threshold of the house, the balcony, the alley. Thus the beauty scattered in the corners of the world grows and the voice of the little ones loved even in poverty is a delicate murmur and a breath of resistance. When the gift of swimming arrives by surprise, the precious gestures, the poems and the children's party are the simple thanks, which gives everyone the opportunity to read the story from the reverse of the plot".
