Pollution of the Sarno River, 4 Companies Seized

Four companies have been seized as part of investigations into the causes of pollution Sarno river.

The operation involved the Public Prosecutor's Offices of Torre Annunziata, Nocera Inferiore and Avellino and was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Environmental Protection Group Command of Naples. The military executed three preventive seizure orders issued by the investigating judges of the Courts of Avellino, Nocera Inferiore and Torre Annunziata and an emergency seizure order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Torre Annunziata.

The companies affected by the measure operate in the heavy metallurgical, canning and tanning sectors and are based in the municipalities of Solofra (Avellino), Pagani (Salerno), Torre Annunziata (Naples) and Striano (Naples).

The legal representatives are accused of illegal discharge of industrial wastewater, illegal waste management, emissions into the atmosphere without authorization and, in one case, also environmental pollution. In particular, the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri of the Noe of Salerno and Naples, who also availed themselves of the collaboration of Arpac and with the coordination of the Public Prosecutors of Avellino, Nocera Inferiore and Torre Annunziata, have allowed to ascertain several irregularities.
