Fuen, UDT participates in the 65th Congress

THETatar Democratic Union participated in the recent Congress of the Federal Union of European Nationalities which took place in Italy, in the city of Trieste. During this Congress he presented the request for membership to the FUEN.

It was the first major event that this Organization, which brings together over 100 Associations and Organizations representing linguistic, cultural and social minorities in various European States, held in person during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the response from members was very positive in terms of physical presence and quality of the debates that animated the Congress.

The Official Opening Ceremony of the 65th Congress was attended by authoritative representatives of the Institutions of Italy, of the Slovenia, ofHungary and the FUEN Presidium. But the heart of the summit were the debates organized on specific themes and the meetings of the Working Groups, which allowed to set and plan the next appointments and the resolutions then voted during the last day with the General Assembly of Delegates.

This final meeting was preceded by round tables such as the one on the construction of the future Europe that must include the valorization of cultural and linguistic diversity, or the one on the school models of minorities in the Nation States, a topic treated with great competence and that opened many working hypotheses.

The last day was the day of the Delegates, who had to face and choose by voting for the first time with a digital system, the various options proposed by the President. Loran Vincent, by the Vice Presidents and by the Heads of each Working Group. The reports presented by the members of the Presidium, starting with the President Lorant Vincze and the Vice Presidents, were approved by a large majority. Angelika Minar, Daniel Alfreider, Vladmir Ham, Gosta Toft, Bahne Bahnsen, Halit Habip Oglou and that of the President of the European Youth of NationalitiesAndor Barabas.

The last day was the one in which the Tatar Democratic Union was strongly interested, even though its representative delegated by the President Naim Belgian, unable to be present for the simultaneous performance of the Sabantoi Festival, followed throughout its development. The message read on behalf of the President and the Tatar Community found the consensus of the Delegates, who voted by a large majority for the adhesion of the UDT to the FUEN.
