“Operation Cutter”, thefts from trucks by cutting the tarpaulin with a cutter to check the material transported on the motorway section between Caserta Nord and Anagni: three Neapolitans arrested
Following careful investigations, carried out by the Frosinone Public Prosecutor's Office with delegation to the Frosinone Traffic Police Section, which began following a theft report filed by a truck driver, four people were identified as being involved in the commission of aggravated thefts to the detriment of commercial vehicles parked in motorway service areas.
This morning, an order was executed imposing precautionary measures against three people, all living in Naples, believed to be responsible for a series of thefts committed in service areas located on the motorway stretch between Caserta Nord and Anagni.
The operating methods with which the thefts were carried out consisted first of all in searching the service areas on board vehicles rented by front men, in order to identify the parked vehicle to be robbed while the driver was taking the so-called long break at night. Once the victim had been identified, a cut was made in the tarpaulin of the semi-trailer, in order to verify the nature of the goods transported. Immediately afterwards, a truck arrived, with an accomplice on board, onto which the stolen goods were quickly transferred, taking advantage of the fact that the driver of the robbed vehicle was sleeping.
The criminal group preferred the La Macchia service area in Anagni for its actions, where at least two thefts were carried out, during which items of clothing and metalworking tools were stolen.
Immediately after committing the theft, the perpetrators headed, on board the vehicles used, towards the place of origin, that is, the southern area of Naples, where the stolen goods were unloaded, which were subsequently placed on the illicit market through some receivers.
In one case, during the return phase, a theft was carried out inside the Teano service area, in the province of Caserta, during which a significant load of televisions was stolen from a parked truck.
The investigations, consisting of technical activities, services on the territory and acquisition of recording footage from security cameras of service areas and the motorway network, have allowed the acquisition of elements useful for the issuing of an order disposing of precautionary measures against three individuals.
A fourth person investigated for the same facts is already in prison for other reasons, always related to crimes committed against truck drivers.
