The event takes place in Piano di Sorrento, organised by the Municipality on the proposal of the FLAG Approdo di Ulisse of the President Della Monica and with the support of the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area. “Sea People”.

The first meeting was held yesterday evening at Antico Bagno Nettuno: we talked about sustainable fishing, tradition and innovation. Professor Giancarlo Spezie, oceanographer and advisor to the board of directors of the Amp Punta Campanella, discussed the physical aspect of water and biomass.

With Antonino Miccio, director of the Amp Regno di Nettuno, we discussed the correct management of the resource, between use and conservation. There was also space for fishermen, such as Mario Gargiulo who spoke about the problems that currently afflict this ancient profession and the need for new rules to ensure a return of young people to this ancient profession.

Naturalist Carmela Guidone of the Punta Campanella MPA moderated the debate, inviting everyone to orient their consumption towards the most abundant and zero-mile species to allow the most vulnerable and threatened species to reproduce and repopulate.

The evening concluded with a cooking show by the chef of Antico Bagno Nettuno who, together with Francesca Fontana, highlighted the characteristics of blue fish, through the taste of the dishes prepared, including anchovies stuffed in batter and fusilli with dolphinfish in courgette sauce.

The three-day “Gente di Mare” will continue today and tomorrow with the exhibition on the seafaring of the Sorrento Peninsula at the “Nino Bixio” Nautical Institute and with a narrated reading of the myths of the area on the splendid terrace of Villa Fondi.
