Gianluca Petrella with the project Cosmic Renaissance on stage at the 49th edition of September at the Borgo, festival directed by Enzo Avitabile, Friday, September 10.

The trombonist and composer from Puglia, who has already worked alongside Jovanotti and Enrico Rava, will perform at the Tower Theatre at 21.30:XNUMX pm (tickets sold out) with his quintet, born from the experience of the Cosmic Band. With Petrella (trombone, laptop, moog), there will be Mirco Rubegni (trumpet), Blake Franchetto (bass), Federico Scettri (drums and laptop) and Simone Padovani (percussion). An excellent quintet that does not limit itself only to jazz, but explores R&B, the depths of black music and especially electronics.

Born in 1975, one of the most appreciated Italian musicians in the world, Gianluca Petrella has collaborated with internationally renowned artists, creating transversal works, from experimentation to mainstream. He has recorded and published works for major labels such as ECM Records, Blue Note, !k7, Ninja Tune and created his own label, Spacebone Records. In over 20 years he has performed on the stages of the main clubs and festivals in the world, from Montreal to Toronto, passing through Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Paris, London and New Orleans.

Cosmic Renaissance is one of his most successful projects, inspired by the music of Sun Ra, with which he has already recorded three works. A project in which the trombonist, always resistant to labels, once again takes on the role of intergalactic skipper for tourists from other planets. Giving life to a surprising concert, difficult to label, between research and contamination.

In addition to the music scheduled in Casertavecchia on September 10th, there will be several cross-cutting events. For the festival, Midnight, on the bill at 19pm the fairy tales, stories and popular Caserta stories of Augustus Ferraiuolo, on stage at Palazzo Masella in Casola.
