Gragnano, the municipality warns Rfi: within a few days it will have to clean the railway line

"Unfortunately, when you find yourself colliding with private property, the process of overturning neglect and degradation is long. The abandonment of the Gragnano - Castellammare railway line is a problem that my Administration and I have been trying to resolve for some time. With the relevant municipal offices, we have taken steps, considering 2021, since last April to communicate to RFI the conditions of abandonment of the abandoned railway line and to implement an action to recover and clean the railway bed area that goes from the Gragnano station to the border with nearby Castellammare.

In July, having still not received a response, we sent another communication to RFI which, I remind you, is the owner of the line and is responsible for everything that happens or causes there. Having still not received a response, in the last few days we have taken strong measures: we have WARNING RFI to “clean and make decent” the abandoned railway line within a few days.

If RFI does not provide within the established deadline – concludes Cimmino – we will provide damages. In the meantime, the offices have prepared all the actions to be implemented if RFI does not follow up on this latest warning.”
