Grand finale for the 26th edition of the Ethnos festival with the Irish folk of Birkin Tree, the rock blues of Haitian star Moonlight Benjamin and the popular tradition of “A Sud di Bella Ciao” with Riccardo Tesi, Elena Ledda, Lucilla Galeazzi and Nando Citarella.

The international ethnic music festival directed by Gigi Di Luca presents this weekend three exclusive concerts and a contemporary dance show in some of the most fascinating places of the Golden Mile: Villa del Parnaso in Torre Annunziata, Villa Vannucchi and Villa Bruno in San Giorgio a Cremano.

It starts on Friday 24 September with the live performance of Birkin Tree in Torre Annunziata. The most important Italian band of Irish music celebrates 40 years of career with a double concert (19pm and 21pm) at Villa del Parnaso. Two replicas of their energetic set suspended between Celtic music, ancient ballads and Irish music, taken on tour in Europe, Russia, the United States and Australia. With over 2000 concerts and participation in the most important festivals in Ireland: from the Feakle Festival to Ennis Trad, from Glencolumbkille to O'Carolan Festival.

Born in 1982, the group founded by Fabio Rinaudo (uilleann pipes, whistles) includes Michel Balatti (Irish flute), Luca Rapazzini (violin), Claudio De Angeli (guitar) and singer Laura Torterolo. Over the years, they have shared the stage several times with the legendary The Chieftains, as well as collaborating with some of the most appreciated and recognized Irish musicians: Tommy Peoples, Seamus McGuire, Martin Hayes, Mick O'Brien, Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, Niamh Parsons and Aoife Nì Briain, a formidable violinist who also took part in the making of their latest album "Five Seasons".

On Saturday 25 September the Ethnos festival comes to San Giorgio a Cremano: the eagerly awaited concert of Haitian singer Moonlight Benjamin will take place at Villa Vannucchi.

His music blends rock, blues and world music with a full-bodied sound and lyrics in French and Creole that denounce exploitation and the lack of freedom in his country.

She has been defined by the Guardian as the Haitian Patti Smith, the queen of Punky Voodoo. Among her fans are stars such as Iggy Pop who, speaking to the BBC, included Moonlight among his favorite artists or Martin Gore of Depeche Mode. She has collaborated with great names in jazz and world music (Omar Sosa above all) and has given life to engaging and disconcerting live shows thanks to her strong stage presence and powerful voice.

“Simido”, his latest album, released last year, includes 10 songs in which his incredible voice duets with the frenetic guitars that had already distinguished the previous album “Siltane”. A perfect synthesis between Voodoo beat, Caribbean rock and Afro-American sounds.

On Sunday 26 September, for the closing of Ethnos 2021, 2 events will be held in San Giorgio a Cremano: at Villa Bruno the contemporary dance show “Nobile popolare” (18 pm and 19.30:21 pm), while at Villa Vannucchi the concert “A Sud di Bella Ciao” (1964 pm). The protagonists of the all-female itinerant contemporary dance performance are Ashay Lombardo Arop, Maristella Martella and Alessandra Ardito in dialogue with the live music of Lavinia Mancusi. An original production of the festival, born from an idea by Gigi Di Luca, designed specifically for the main floor of Villa Bruno. At Villa Vannucchi, instead, great names of Italian folk and popular music present “A Sud di Bella Ciao”. A special concert inspired by the show that debuted in Spoleto in XNUMX and features Riccardo Tesi, Elena Ledda, Lucilla Galeazzi, Alessio Lega, Nando Citarella, Maurizio Geri, Gigi Biolcati and Claudio Carboni. The ensemble, for the occasion, is also enriched with the presence of Fausta Vetere, voice and mind of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare.

The 26th edition of the Ethnos festival, planned and co-financed by the Campania Region through Scabec and by the Mic – Ministry of Culture, is organized by La Bazzarra, with the contribution of the municipalities of San Giorgio a Cremano and Torre Annunziata and in collaboration with the municipalities of Ercolano, Portici, the Fondazione Ente per le Ville Vesuviane, the Banca di Credito Popolare and the Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II.

To attend the Ethnos 2021 shows, there is an entrance ticket with popular prices of 5 and 10 euros, which reflect the desire for a festival accessible to all. Access to the concerts is allowed to spectators in possession of the Green Pass or with a negative swab performed no later than 48 hours before the event.
