Few words are needed to describe Guy Davis, now famous throughout the world for being not only a great guitarist, banjoist, harmonica player and singer but also a talented actor.
A talent born in a family environment since he is the son of Ruby dee e Ossie Davis, famous actors, directors and activists for the civil rights of African Americans. From them he inherited his passion for stories, which he tells through his music always in the tradition.
Guy has been influenced lyrically by artists such as Blind Willie McTell and Big Bill Broonzy, and musically by artists as diverse as Lightnin' Hopkins and Babatunde Olatunji.
We can now consider Guy Davis among the most important bluesmen in history, certainly in the last decades, after his debut in 1995 with that “Stomp Down The Rider” which has catapulted him into the Olympus of great names. His recent homage to Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee earned him a nomination for a Grammy Award, with the album “Sonny & Brownies' Last Train", Released in 2017.
His new album “Be Ready When I Call You”, a mix of blues, folk and Americana, with almost exclusively original pieces, which is receiving praise and acclaim from all international critics, and which will be presented in concerts in Italy.
