A hospital syringe in the belly of a tuna just caught in the waters of Ischia.

A sport fisherman found it a few days ago and reported the discovery on social media. Max Bottles, outgoing Italian champion of deep sea trawling, last Saturday, during a fishing trip off the coast of Forio, has captured a albacore tuna weighing about 10 kilograms; immediately after he began to clean the fish and gut it when he noticed a strange swelling in the stomach from which a large plastic syringe, probably used in hospitals, came out.

After making sure that there was no other waste in the fish's stomach, the fisherman threw the fish back into the sea and disposed of the syringe on land: “It's not the first time I've found pieces of plastic in fish stomachs- says Bottiglieri– it is an alarm bell that we cannot ignore: the sea is increasingly invaded by waste, even in deep waters and we must do everything to protect it”.
