La Women's National Volleyball Team goes up the roof of Europe and he did it in front of 20.565 spectators at the Stark Arena in Belgrade, against the host Serbia.
Serbia was considered the bête noire of the Azzurre until now, since it had beaten them on several occasions. Italy led by coach Davide Mazzanti wipes out with a stroke of the sponge the Olympic disappointment, suffered precisely against the Serbian girls, and wins 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-19, 25-11), conquering the first place in the 32nd edition of the European Women's Championship.
12 years after the last final played in the continental tournament, and the last gold, the Italian women have achieved the greatest feat and are back on the top step of the podium after a difficult start, as the home team won the first of the four sets played this evening.
And the third title for the blues of volleyball who expressed the best technical figure of the whole tournament and it is certainly not a coincidence that they conquered it with full merit. Despite conceding to the opponents a very hard-fought first partial, the girls led by Mazzanti they managed to bring home a historic result, which had been missing for 12 years and which in the fourth set was never called into question by the progress of the game, thanks to yet another high-level performance by an extraordinary group.
The summer of great sporting achievements for Italy, therefore, shows no signs of ending: the European triumph in football, the avalanche of Olympic and Paralympic medals. Belgrade's success It sounds like a real revenge after the defeat in the quarter-finals at the Tokyo Olympics against Serbia.

Myriam Sylla and Paola Egonu (who was awarded the prize as best player of the tournament) were once again among the best on the field for the Italian team, but the glory must be attributed to all the girls, who were able to grit their teeth in difficult moments and, in the end, took the greatest satisfaction, but also unexpected in some respects.
Egonu guaranteed Italy 29 points, Sylla 20, to which are added the 13 lengths of the Petrini, the 8 of the Danes and the 2 of the Malinova, while Chirichella stopped at one. The match lasted just under an hour and three quarters: that was enough for Mazzanti's team to ascend the throne of Europe and rewrite the history of Italian volleyball once again.
