Breakthrough in the investigation into the death of Laura Ziliani, the former traffic warden from Temù, in the Brescia area, who vanished into thin air on May 8th and whose body was found among the vegetation in the town ofUpper Camonica Valley August 8th. This morning, two of the woman's three daughters and the eldest's boyfriend were arrested by the Brescia Carabinieri.
Silvia and Paola Zani, 27 and 19 years old, and Myrtle Milani, the latter resident in the province of Lecco, were reached by a custodial order in prison, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Brescia.
The crimes of voluntary homicide, aggravated from the relationship of kinship with the victim, and of concealment of a corpse. The investigations, started by the military of the Breno Company, in parallel with the searches, have highlighted numerous anomalies in the story provided by the three arrested, “leading the Carabinieri and the Prosecutor's Office to consider the version of the accident or illness in the mountains as not very credible” investigators report.
“The murderous intent is the result of a long premeditation and a criminal plan that allowed them to conceal the death for a long time and to mislead the investigations.” The investigating judge writes it Alessandra Sabatucci in the custody order of two of Laura Ziliani's three daughters and the eldest's boyfriend.
According to investigators, the motive is of an economic nature: “The three defendants had a clear interest in replacing Laura Ziliani in the administration of a large real estate portfolio in order to resolve their respective economic problems.”
"We are faced with a circumstantial framework. Four and a half months of intense investigations have led to overturning the original version of disappearance and natural death."
Laura ZILIANI KILLED BY DAUGHTERS AND SON-IN-LAW FOR ECONOMIC REASONS
This was stated by the chief prosecutor of Brescia Francesco Prete, commenting on the arrests of Laura Ziliani's two daughters and the eldest's boyfriend. “Of course the conditional is imposed in the sense that we have no certainty.Ours is a hypothesis that we currently believe to be well-founded, thanks also to the contribution given by the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Brescia, which identified traces of substances that probably determined the cause of death or contributed to its determination" added the chief prosecutor of Brescia. In Laura Ziliani's body were found traces of benzodiazepines.
The turning point in the investigations into the former traffic warden of Temù, in the province of Brescia, Laura Ziliani, would have come thanks to the toxicological test. According to what is written in the order of the investigating judge of Brescia, Alessandra Sabatucci, who cites the preliminary report of September 20th of the consultants of the PM, “the toxicological investigations carried out to date on the biological material collected during the autopsy have allowed the presence of bromazepam to be detected” with “anxiolytic and hypnotic action.
The quantitative findings of this compound allow us to exclude that it could have had a direct role in determining the arrest of Laura Ziliani's vital functions. On the other hand, it is possible to believe that at the time of death the woman was under the influence of this compound, also potentially capable of compromising her defense capabilities against external harmful insults".
“During the house search carried out” on June 26th in the apartment that the Zani sisters shared with Mirto Milani”, in Brescia, the carabinieri “they found and seized a bottle containing Bromazepan Sandoz filled to a third”, writes the investigating judge in the order. According to which, the investigative elements collected “demonstrate that on the night between 7 and 8 May 2021 Silvia Zani, acting in conjunction with her sister Paola and Mirto Milani, administered bromazepan, a substance that the three had available”, it is still written.
“The precautionary request dedicates a paragraph to the illness that Laura Ziliani had after a very demanding walk in Presena, which occurred in mid-April, which was followed by a dinner in Temù during which, according to the prosecution's hypothesis, she had been poisoned by today's suspects with a herbal tea”.
This is what the investigating judge of Brescia, Alessandra Sabatucci, wrote in the order for the application of the precautionary custody measure in prison, issued against Silvia and Paola Ziliani, 27 and 19 years old, two daughters of the former traffic warden Laura Ziliani, who disappeared from Temù (Brescia) on the morning of 8 May 2021 and was found dead on 8 August, and of her older sister's boyfriend, 27-year-old Mirto Milani. “In support of this conclusion – it is written – the statements of comrade Riccardo Lorenzi and of the neighbor Giuseppe Ruscelli were recalled regarding the completely anomalous conditions in which Ziliani found herself two days after her death.at the dinner in question."
The statements “witnesses heard demonstrate how the episode in question was nothing other than the prelude to the murder, which took place on the night of May 8, 2021. This also demonstrates how the homicidal intent was the result of a long premeditation that allowed the three suspects to organize a criminal plan that allowed them to conceal the woman's death for a long time and to mislead the investigations against them”, the investigating judge Sabatucci further underlines.
