Napoli report cards: Mario Rui disaster, Osimhen grit

Crazy match at the Maradona: the winner of the Europa League “battle” is in the end Spartak Moscow, who beat Napoli 3-2. The Azzurri were condemned by the sensational naivety of Mario Rui and the errors of Malcooked, who came on in his place. Osimhen is saved, entering the field well.

Meret: 6. He is practically blameless on the three goals scored by Spartak. The first is a close-range shot (also deflected), he does not arrive on the low shot that is worth the 2-1 and he can do nothing on the third goal.

By Lorenzo: 6,5. One of the last to give up: serpentine at 93' and good assist for the goal (in the end useless) by Osimhen. A game of sacrifice, with many gallops also in the final phase of the game and up to the 100'.

Manolas: 5,5. The Azzurri defense is not in danger until the 31st minute, then the game changes after Mario Rui's red card. The wall holds until the 55th minute, then collapses under the blows of Spartak: three goals conceded.

Koulibaly: 5,5. He suffers along with his teammate, perhaps also due to some tiredness accumulated in previous matches. He inherits the captain's armband from Insigne after the substitution.

Mario Rui: 4,5. He holds the field well until the half hour mark, but the naivety that leaves his team with 10 men is too serious and complicates the entire match. A real shame, given the good start to the season that the Portuguese was having.

Elmas: 6,5. A sufficient match for the Macedonian, half a point more for the goal that puts the Azzurri ahead. He is ready in the area after just 11 seconds and kicks well first time on the fly to beat the goalkeeper Maksimenko (from 83' Ounas: n/a).

Fabian Ruiz: 5,5. The understanding with Anguissa, perfectly tested in the championship, is missing at the start given the rest granted to number 99. He recovers in the second half but it is not enough: he is tired too.

Zielinski: 5,5. Not as brilliant as against Cagliari, in the 35th minute he shoots high from two steps away the chance of 2-0 that could have closed the match. A little tired, in the end he stays on the pitch for just one half of the game (from 46′ Anguissa: 6. With him on the pitch there is more balance and some bursts of energy, he doesn't make mistakes but in the end he has less of an impact than usual).

Politano: 5,5. Not a bad match, lots of balls touched but never in a decisive way. He was forced to mark Moses on the occasion of the 1-1, but more because of Malcuit, who missed the diagonal (from 74′ Lozano: n/a).

Petagna: 5. A bit awkward, he fights a lot but wastes at least three good chances in the area to put the game on ice while the two teams are still numerically equal. Mistakes that the team will pay for going forward, after the expulsion of Mario Rui (from 46′ Osimhen: 7. With him on the pitch it's a different story: a thorn in the side of the Russian defense, which very often has to stop him with bad methods. In the end he even scores, but it doesn't matter much)

Insigne: 6. In the first half hour of the match, Napoli relied on their qualities as always. The match, however, did not last long: Spalletti “sacrificed” him to return to 4 in defense after Mario Rui's expulsion (from 41′ Malcuit: 5. enters the game badly. Serious error at 1-1, loses Moses who sprints down the wing and provides the assist to Promes).
