Saturday 18rd September to 20.30 a Villa Avellino Historic Residence, last appointment, with the concert of Lino Cannavacciuolo Quartet, as part of the dance, theatre and music festival Ancient Scenarios.
The Quartet is composed of Cannavacciuolo himself, on his formidable violin, together with Gigi De Rienzo on electric bass, Piero De Asmundis on keyboards and Vittorio Riva on drums.
After the release of the new album “Formae” last May 7, 2021, the artist decided to undertake a “splitting” of his artistic personality. If the album, and the ensemble that will perform it, consisting mainly of acoustic instruments, represents the most compositional and intimate side of his artistic journey, this project represents the most “rock” part in its broadest sense.
In his forty-year career he has lived and undertaken wide-ranging musical and theatrical experiences, from his first experiences with Peppe Barra, up to the foundation in the early 90s of the Soloist Sting Quartet, through different experiences and multiple collaborations.
His compositions have also often been the subject of dance remixes: the album Segesta, released in the Buddha Bar series, the song Aballabba remixed by Stefano Mieleaka Riva Starr, other collaborations with Mario Bianco. This has led him to develop a versatility that goes beyond the boundaries of “played” music to reach the world of electronic music. Experiences that are condensed in this musical experiment that sees Cannavacciuolo supported by a very simple trio – bass, keyboards and drums – of clear blues jazz origin, in which his violin is the leading voice to express all the facets of his multifaceted musical personality.
After a classical technique education and an innate eclectic, versatile and creative ability, he made his debut at a very young age in Luca De Filippo's company for the staging of "The woman is mobile"of Eduardo. The bond with the theatre does not stop and collaborates with Peppe Barra for the show "Pepe and Barra"Of 1981.
After dedicating himself over the years to composing various soundtracks including: “Giuseppe Moscati” with Beppe Fiorello, directed by Giacomo Campiotti, “Crimini” with Lina Sastri, directed by Stefano Sollima, “La nuova squadra” for Rai3, the documentaries “Un Principe chiamato Totò” and “Un treno per Auschwitz” by Carlo Lucarelli and having received various awards including the “Eti gli olimpici del teatro” award for best musical show “la Cantata dei Pastori” and the “Capri Hollywood” award, his tango “Tanos” became part of the soundtrack of the film “Napoli Velata” by Ferzan Ozpetek.
